To this day, braces are a proven aid for the treatment of misaligned teeth. However, many patients shy away from braces treatment. Adults in particular usually want an inconspicuous solution for everyday life.
At our dental practice in Zurich, we offer you Invisalign, an innovative treatment concept that does not require any visible braces. Instead, we use a transparent dental splint for Invisalign treatment. This gradually moves your teeth into the desired position without catching the eye of others.
If you are thinking about having your teeth straightened, we will be happy to advise you personally on Invisalign braces in Zurich. Our orthodontists will inform you in detail about the advantages of Invisalign, side effects and risks, the treatment process and the possible results.
Frequently asked questions about Invisalign Zurich
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a treatment concept in which we correct the position of teeth with transparent plastic aligners. The aligners are custom-made and changed every 1 - 2 weeks. Each aligner moves the teeth closer to their target position. The aligners can be removed when eating so that the patient is not restricted in their everyday life.
How long does tooth correction with Invisalign take?
The duration of Invisalign treatment varies greatly from person to person. For adult patients, treatment lasts around 6 - 12 months on average. Once we have assessed the type and severity of your malocclusion, we can estimate the expected duration of treatment more accurately.
How are the aligners cleaned?
The invisible splint should be cleaned daily with a toothbrush. Hot water must not be used as the aligner could become deformed. In addition, we recommend soaking the aligners occasionally in a cleaning liquid to prevent odors and discoloration. We can provide you with special Invisalign cleaning crystals for this purpose.
Will Invisalign braces change my pronunciation?
Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign does not affect pronunciation. In the first few days, the aligners can still be perceived as unfamiliar, but this usually subsides quickly once the patient has become accustomed to the new situation.
Can I eat and drink anything with Invisalign?
You can eat and drink normally during treatment. Simply remove the Invisalign aligners. The only important thing is careful dental hygiene after every meal.
Is Invisalign painful?
Wearing Invisalign braces is not painful. In the first few days and after changing the braces, you may experience a temporary feeling of slight pressure, but this usually subsides quickly.
What does Invisalign cost?
The Invisalign costs can vary depending on the type of misalignment. As soon as we have assessed your current dental situation and the need for treatment in Zurich, we can provide you with a cost estimate.
What are the advantages of Invisalign?
Invisalign is a comfortable and inconspicuous alternative to traditional braces. The patient receives effective and precise tooth correction, but does not have to put up with visible braces.
Another advantage is that the treatment does not cause any restrictions in everyday life. The aligners can be removed for eating. The patient always receives several aligners in advance and then changes them independently, so that only a few check-ups are required.
The success of the treatment is visible in advance. Using a computer simulation, you can see what your new smile will look like after treatment.
Who is Invisalign treatment suitable for?
We offer Invisalign in Zurich for adults and adolescents who want to have misaligned teeth corrected in an inconspicuous way.
In principle, Invisalign treatment is suitable for all common malocclusions. Among other things, we can treat an overbite or underbite, crossbite or anterior teeth misalignment. Invisalign is also suitable for correcting the position of missing teeth.
Prior to treatment, your orthodontist will discuss with you whether Invisalign is the right treatment method in your case and what alternatives may be available.
How does an Invisalign treatment in Zurich work?
Before Invisalign treatment, we carry out a thorough initial examination in Zurich. Your dental situation will be assessed in detail and documented using x-rays. Your orthodontist will then discuss the further course of treatment with you and determine a treatment goal together with you.
If you decide to undergo Invisalign treatment, the next step is to create a 3D model of your teeth. The computer simulation serves as the basis for treatment planning and also allows us to visualize the treatment result in advance.
Your aligners are custom-made for you and then fitted by the orthodontist. From now on, you will wear the invisible aligner around the clock, but may take it out to eat and drink. You change the aligner every 1 - 2 weeks so that the teeth are gradually moved into their target position.
Once the treatment goal has been achieved, the so-called retention phase follows. During this time, we stabilize the tooth position with fixed wire retainers or removable retention splints. These prevent the teeth from moving back into their original position. The retention phase lasts at least one year, but does not restrict you any further in your everyday life.
In addition to Invisalign®, we also offer treatment with Spark™ aligners at our dental practice in Zurich. We would be happy to advise you on which aligners are best for you. Contact us by phone or make an appointment online at our practice - we look forward to seeing you!
