With a toothless jaw or very few remaining teeth, it used to be a long road to a permanent denture. Patients had to live with a removable temporary denture for many months. However, the All on 4 method offers us completely new options for providing fixed dentures.
The All on Four concept requires only 4 dental implants per jaw. In comparison, 6 implants were previously used in the lower jaw and 8 in the upper jaw. The dental implants can usually be loaded immediately so that we can provide our patients with a temporary denture straight away. They receive fixed teeth in one day and can leave our practice in Zurich with a complete set of teeth.
Frequently asked questions about All on 4
Who are dental implants suitable for?
In principle, dental implants are suitable for almost every patient. At our dental practice in Zurich, we use dental implants to replace both individual gaps and larger missing teeth. If several teeth are missing, for example, a bridge that is attached to two or more implants is an option.
When can the All on Four method be used?
The All on 4 concept is suitable for situations in which no or very few teeth remain. Even if the remaining teeth are in a poor condition and cannot be retained, it is possible to restore a flawless set of teeth using the All on 4 method.
In contrast to classic implant treatment, this form of treatment is also suitable for patients with little bone substance. However, a certain minimum bone substance is required in the area of the front teeth.
What advantages does the All on Four concept offer?
With the All on Four method, we can produce fixed and aesthetically pleasing dentures in one day. In terms of appearance and function, the finished dentures are practically indistinguishable from natural teeth.
The All on 4 method requires fewer dental implants than classic implant treatment. As a result, the costs are also lower. According to current knowledge, the dental implants are just as resilient as conventional implants.
The dental implants are inserted into the bone at an angle using a special 3D navigated technique. This is expected to result in high primary stability. Minor bone augmentation is necessary for most implantations. If the bone situation is optimised, the temporary denture can be loaded directly from day 1.
How long does the treatment with All on 4 take?
The actual operation in our practice at Finest Smile, Löwenplatz Zurich, takes about 1 - 2 hours. This is followed by a healing phase of around 3 - 6 months, during which you will wear a screw-retained temporary denture. Once the healing phase is complete, the final prosthesis is fitted and screwed onto the dental implants. This concludes the All on 4 treatment in Zurich.
Is the treatment associated with risks?
Every surgical procedure is always associated with certain risks. For example, swelling, pain and, in individual cases, haematomas can occur after the operation. With the All on Four method, however, we can minimise the risks as the treatment is shorter and involves less effort than other methods.
When can the dental implant be fully loaded after insertion?
On average, the healing of dental implants takes around 3 - 6 months. The implants can then be fully loaded. If the bone situation is optimal, you will be fitted with a fixed temporary restoration for the duration of the healing process, which can be loaded immediately.
When can I return to sport after the implantation?
After the dental implants have been inserted, sports and other physical exertion should be avoided for a few days.
How do you clean dental implants?
In principle, dental implants are cleaned in the same way as natural teeth. You should proceed with caution when cleaning the implants and ensure thorough dental hygiene, including the spaces between the teeth. This is particularly important after the operation to prevent inflammation.
How long do dental implants last?
With careful care, dental implants can last a lifetime. Although there are still no long-term studies on All on 4 treatment, initial findings show a comparable lifespan to conventional implants.

Before the treatment
Before every treatment, we invite our patients to a detailed consultation at our dental practice in Zurich. One of our dentists will discuss your current situation and the possible treatment options with you. On the basis of an initial examination, a decision is then made as to whether the All on Four method is suitable for you.
Procedure
During an operation lasting one to two hours, the dental implants are inserted and any remaining teeth are removed. We then anchor a temporary bridge to the implants. The temporary denture can be loaded immediately, provided your bone situation allows this. You will therefore receive fully loadable teeth in one day.
After implantation, the dental implants need around 3 - 6 months to heal completely in the jawbone. As soon as healing is complete, we take an impression of your jaw and use it to make a custom-fit dental prosthesis. If necessary, the dentist will make minor adjustments and the All on 4 treatment in Zurich is complete.
After the treatment
After the All on Four treatment, you can load the dental implants in the same way as your natural teeth. In the initial period, the dentures may still feel unfamiliar. However, many patients get used to the temporary prosthesis during the transition period, so that the final prosthesis does not cause them any problems. If any discomfort does occur, we are happy to arrange an appointment in Zurich at short notice.
The fit of the dental prosthesis is checked regularly by the treating dentist. We recommend about 2 - 3 check-ups per year, also to check that the dental implants are in perfect condition.
